Dean is a Ph.D. Student in Bill Spencer's Smart Structures Technology Laboratory in the Civil Engineering Department at UIUC. His work focuses on experimentally determining the system response of skew bridges to earthquake motions.
Dean is an active duty Army Engineer officer. His most recent assignment was as a company commander in Samarra and Mosul, Iraq. He holds an M.S. in Civil Engineering from Stanford (98) and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from West Point.
He is married and has one son.
