Area of Study: Applied Math; Mathematical Epidemiology (Biology)

Profile: Philip is a PhD student with Phil Holmes in the Program in Applied and Computational Mathematics at Princeton University.  His mathematical areas of interest include nonlinear dynamics, stochastic modeling, and numerical analysis.  His recent research has been in computational neuroscience, modeling perceptual decision making and neuromodulation.  He is also very interested in mathematical models in epidemiology and is currently working on a model of malaria transmission. 

He has a M.A. in Applied Math from Princeton, and bachelor's degrees from the University of Texas at Austin in Aerospace Engineering and Pure Mathematics.  While at UT-Austin, he worked on the FASTRAC student-built satellite team, which won the Nanosat-3 student built satellite design competition.
